Thomas the Train Engine
Thomas the Tank engine is a legendary little train. Every child has
heard of them, and many have read is books, or own a Thomas the
Train set. Kids and parents love the healthy learning gained through
his books. Thomas faces challenges and makes mistakes like anyone
does, but he always works together with his friends to solve these
problems, and to fix what has been damaged.
Thomas’s character was invented over 50 years ago by and Anglican
clergyman, Reverend Wilber Awdry. When his son was just a child, he
came down with a bad case of scarlet fever, and was stuck in bed for
quite some time. Awdry invented these stories as a way to entertain
his son during the long days of his recovery.
Years later he decided to have his first story published so other
children could enjoy the stories that his child cherished so much.
Reverend Awdry continued to write twenty five more Thomas stories,
introducing new characters and challenges. After a total of twenty
six Thomas books, Awdry handed it off to his son Christopher, who
has written 10 more stories to add to the beloved series.
However, before completely ending his career, he also built the
first model Thomas the train set, which was exhibited throughout
England at many shows.
Thomas and his friends have since expanded to include not only
books, but also a TV show and many different train kits to build.
This set of collectable train kits includes Thomas and all of his
different friends, some of whom aren’t even trains. It also includes
many different buildings and towers that are used in the various
Thomas the Tank Engine storybooks.
What started out as a book has gone from a little wooden model train
named Thomas, to a whole collection of play toys. Another great
thing about this collection is that all the trains and other
vehicles have names and faces, making it that much more of a kid
friendly toy. They can build their own sets of train tracks, then
make up their own Thomas stories.
